Welcome to this exciting journey into the world of machine learning and artificial intelligence. In this first unit, you will learn about the big picture behind machine learning and how it’s related to deep learning and artificial intelligence.

Moreover, we will introduce the concepts of a typical machine learning workflow and implement a classifier in Python. No worries, you can follow the broader concepts of this unit without a programming or Python background. However, later units require some more Python knowledge — deep learning is a very applied field, after all. Therefore, we recommend taking an introductory course on Python programming to get the most out of this course.

There are countless great resources on learning Python available on the internet.

• Based on Sebastian’s teaching experience, we recommend the Python 3 class on Codecademy, which interactively teaches Python.
